What is AMUNC?
Background
The Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC) is a leading international student event that has been hosted annually for the last 13 years. It was established with a vision to promote the values of the United Nations and provide tertiary students an opportunity to develop their communication skills and networks.
Held at the University of Auckland in 2007, AMUNC attracted over 500 tertiary students from all reaches of the Asia-Pacific for a week of debate and social events. In 2008, The University of Adelaide in South Australia proudly hosts the conference for the first time and looks to offer a world of education and culture that rivals other major global destinations.
There are many model United Nations conferences happened all over the world, so why should you chose to come to AMUNC 2008 in Adelaide?
Exciting events
The week long program will not only provide delegates with a great model UN experience in the spirit of AMUNC, but will also let them sample the best that Adelaide and South Australia has to offer. There will be a plethora of cultural and social events on offer for all delegates.
Diversity
AMUNC is the largest model UN in the Asia-Pacific region, attracting a diverse range of tertiary students from around the Asia-Pacific. The topics are set so that they reflect the issues of the Asia-Pacific region and the committees are well structured with highly trained directors.
Committee choice
By being the largest model UN in the region, AMUNC is able to capitalise on the strength of its numbers without delegates becoming just another number. There are an amazing 15 committees to choose from, and committees are capped at 45 delegates, giving all delegates ample opportunity to speak, engage with their colleagues and to collaborate to work on resolutions.
Convenience
Being held at The University of Adelaide, delegates will experience the convenience of having all conference venues, as well as accommodation, located in the central business district, in very close proximity to each other.
