Visa Process for International participants
All travellers to Australia must have a valid visa before boarding their plane. You cannot apply for a visa on arrival in Australia (with the exception of New Zealand and Norfolk Island passport holders).
The visa options for event participants and the appropriate visa to apply for will depend on your country of passport. You will need to apply for either an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) or a short stay business visa.
Please click here for information from the Government of Australia's Department of Immigration and Citizenship, or see below for a summary.
ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORITY (ETA)
Travellers holding certain passports may apply for an ETA which will let you spend up to three months in Australia. You are advised to apply for your ETA at least two (2) weeks before your proposed date of travel. You can apply for an ETA (Visitor) either:
- online at www.eta.immi.gov.au; or
- through a travel agent, airline or specialist service provider arranging an ETA on your behalf
- applying at an Australian visa office outside Australia.
You are only eligible to apply for an ETA while you are outside Australia and hold one of the listed ETA-eligible passports. A service charge of $20 applies.
BUSINESS (SHORT STAY) VISA
If you do not meet the criteria for an ETA, then you should visit the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website www.immi.gov.au or contact your nearest Australian visa office for further information and application forms.
An appropriate visa to attend the Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference 2008 Conference is the Business (Short Stay) Visa (Subclass 456); see www.immi.gov.au/skilled/business/456/index.htm
International visitors who wish to attend AMUNC are encouraged to apply four to six weeks before departing for Australia.
Please note that applicants must meet all relevant requirements to be granted the appropriate visa.
Please click here for a Letter of Invitation to attach to your visa appliation.
NB. A confirmation of registration will be provided to delegates as required once full payment has been received.
