1st General Assembly

Topic 1: The question for a renewed determination towards the total elimination of nuclear weapons.
Director: James Flick

Nuclear weapons are a fairly recent development in international relations. They were created in the final stages of World War Two by a coalition of Allied scientists in the United States and were first used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end World War Two in the Pacific theatre. Nuclear weapons were seen by the US leadership as a clear and decisive way to break Japanese moral and to send a very strong warning the USSR, the emerging rival of the United States.

Topic 2: The Question of Personnel Misconduct on UN Peacekeeping Missions
Director: Angela Ha

United Nations peacekeeping plays a crucial role in managing crises that threaten international peace and security. Currently, there are 17 UN peacekeeping operations around the world, staffed by over 100,000 personnel.
