3rd General Assembly

Topic 1: Report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, questions relating to the treatment of refugees, returnees and displaced persons.
Director: David Holmes

The world is flooded with people forced to flee for their lives as a result of political violence and persecution; there are nearly 33 million refugees and others of concern at the present time. Developing countries shelter seventy five percent of the world’s refuges; their contribution is thus much greater than most countries. The result is heavy social and economic stress in these nations.

Director: Aized Suharwardy

The issue of human trafficking is one of the most important social issues that face the global community. This is because this issue transcends all international boundaries and borders, and it’s an issue that both the developing world and the industrialized world have to face. Human trafficking has many aspects to it which make it a complicated issue. Human trafficking includes other complicated issues such as the drug trade, slavery, the sex trade and prostitution, in addition to others.
