Welcome to the AMUNC 2008 website!

Hi AMUNCers!

Thanks for a fantastic week and for being the people that made this amazing week happen. Because of you I've had a life changing experience and I'm pretty sure that you will not forget this week any time soon either.

When our team was marketing AMUNC we pondered at great lengths as the best way to convince you to spend your time and money to come to AMUNC, especially since there were many other conferences going on at the same time and that students have many other demands on their time and personal finances.

What was it about AMUNC that made people come? Why did they choose AMUNC over other conferences? This week the answer to these questions has been made resoundingly clear to me.

AMUNC is the great conference that it is because of you. You and your fellow delegates attend AMUNC to meet people like you. Because you attended AMUNC you are a person who thinks why not instead of why, you think about how to solve problems rather that consuming yourself with negatives thoughts on them, you are the change that you want to see in the world, you believe you can do anything and most importantly you are a person who's mind encompasses the world as a whole instead of just the small part of it you live in.

This style of thinking and attitude is rare, this is why you and I both love AMUNC, the opportunity to meet other fantastic people like this.

Lifelong friends are made at AMUNC for these reasons. Just ask anyone that went to JCU in Townsville in '04 or Auckland last year. Delegates will attest to this fact; I even started a small business with some mates for Auckland!

The friendships that you and I have forged this week will last and I'm sure I will meet many of you again. This is not just through the many facebook groups that have popped up and the exchange of contact details (my fbook inbox has been inundated with messages!) and through future MUNs but in years to come when you and I are knocking on the doors of power, influence and change it will be you and your fellow delegates on the other side opening them.

This truly has been an unforgettable week, until SydMUN, AMUNC 09 at UQ where I'm looking to returning to my beloved 2nd GA or wherever life leads us it has been a privilege to meet you and be reminded that there are other people out there in the world that think and operate like me.

All the best for your amazing, exciting and challenging future! I look forward to hearing all about it.
